Miles davis et John Coltrane - So what

http://deepsound.net - Miles Davis and John Coltrane play one of the best renditions of SO WHAT ever captured on film-Live in 1958. Edit : in fact, was in New York, april 2, 1959. Recorded by CBS producer Robert Herridge. Cannonball Adderley had a migrane and was absent from the session. Wynton Kelly played piano--he was the regular band member at this time--but Bill Evans had played on the original recording of "So What" on March 2, 1959. The other musicians seen in the film were part of the Gil Evans Orchestra, who performed selections from "Miles Ahead". Jimmy Cobb on drums.

You have to admit, though, that among the general genre of black music, the decadence in quality has been more drastic than elsewhere. They used to make some of the best music in the world, up to the mid-70's. Some people of african descent still make great music, sure, but the distinctive genre as a whole, which gave birth to such great music as blues and jazz has practically disappeared.

Nothing has happened, and no one has stopped making great music. If you're expecting great music to come find you on the radio or tv, it won't, you have to dig for it, people had to dig for this stuff back than too.

@matadorelov: You don't see them on MTV, or hear them on the radio, but that doesn't mean that they are no longer here. You just have to go outside, take a shovel with you, and digg deep, because they are all underground...
